KURA SUSHI

Kurasushi (sometimes pronounced as Kurazushi), is a inexpensive, nationwide restaurant chain where you can enjoy additive-free sushi (with no artificial/chemical seasonings, sweeteners, food colors or preservatives used). The sushi on the conveyor belts is carefully managed by time and covered by an antibacterial cover in order to preserve the fresh flavor of the sushi. The sushi in Kurasushi doesn’t contain any wasabi, so it can be eaten by everyone including people who don’t like food with a spicy hot flavor, such as children. If you do want some wasabi, you can out as much as you want right before you eat.

Assortment of three Salmon

When you enter Kurasushi, one of the waiters will give you a piece of paper with your seat number and a QR code. You will need this paper when you pay at the cash register.

You can order either using the tablet device on your table, or using your own smartphone through the QR code on the tablet.

There will be a notification on your tablet before your order arrives at the lane above. You can take your plate(s) after they stop moving, after which you can tap your tablet device. There is some complimentary green tea, which you can make by putting two teaspoonfuls of green tea powder (which is placed on your table) in a cup and and pour some hot water (there’s a tap near the lanes) in the cup. There’s also some beer which you can buy by taking a glass from the fridge, putting it on the beer server and putting some money inside.

Kura Sushi has a wide variety of food you can choose from other than traditional sushi, such as udon, ramen, unadon (a bowl of rice topped with grilled eel), and pork sushi, so it can be enjoyed by people who don’t like raw fish. Some dishes, for example cucumber sushi rolls(Kappa maki), natto sushi rolls, dried gourd shaving sushi rolls(Kanpyou maki), mango, soy milk ice cream, and grape sorbet can be eaten by vegan people.

For dessert, there’s ice cream, cake, parfait and Japanese sweets, which you can choose based on how much space there is in your stomach. The extravagant and luxurious Kura Royal sweets are in limited supply, so you’re pretty lucky if you got to try these!

These four locations, called “Global Flagship Stores”, with an amazingly beautiful Japanese-style interior design and advanced multilingualization, are located in sightseeing areas, making them perfect for tourists. They even have an original menu.

Please do try visiting these stores! I hope you have a fantastic time eating many kinds of sushi in Kurasushi.
