Saizeriya

Saizeriya is one of Japan’s most popular Italian family restaurants. It is beloved by students and adults alike because of its delicious food and inexpensive prices. Saizeriya strives to achieve not just a single pleasant experience for its customers, but something that could be ingrained into their daily life. It defines delicious food as one that people can enjoy every day without growing tired, and they use the minimal amount of oil necessary in order to ensure healthy meals for everyday consumption.

Saizeriya even has a weekdays-only 500 yen (tax included) lunch, where Pollock Roe Spaghetti (also known as Tarako spaghetti), Neapolitan Spaghetti (a ketchup-flavored spaghetti originated from Japan, not Naples), Gratin Rice, or a Hamburg Steak (with a fried egg and rice) is served with salad and soup. With an additional 100 yen, spaghetti dishes can be changed into a “Large Serving” where the amount is 1.5 times larger than usual. Dinner can be enjoyed with only about 1000 yen! For alcoholic drinks, they have house wine in a glass (100 yen), Decanter wine (200 yen for 200ml), and bottled wine (1100 yen or more).

You can order by writing the menu numbers on your order sheet on the table and giving it to the staff. There should be an English menu at every Saizeriya location, which you can ask the staff for.

Saizeriya has a variety of appetizers, such as Prosciutto, grilled mussels, grilled chicken, and popcorn shrimp. Green Peas with Pecorino Cheese is especially popular, with many devoted fans. You can enjoy these delicious appetizers while you wait for your main dish to arrive.

If you’re in the mood for more meaty dishes instead of pasta or pizza, you can order some steak. Saizariya’s Hamburg steak comes with a fried egg and corn. I recommend ordering rice or bread to eat with the meat.

Saizeriya has a Drink Bar, where you can have both cold drinks and hot drinks. For cold drinks, there’s Coca Cola, muscat juice, melon soda, orange juice, tonic water, Oolong tea, black tea and Minute Maid vegetable juice. For hot drinks, Saizeriya has many kinds of coffee to choose from, including American coffee, cappuccino, and espresso. There is also many types of tea, such as Darjeeling tea, flavored tea and green tea.

During lunchtime on weekdays, Drink Bars can be ordered for an additional 100 yen to your lunch order. Outside of those times they can be ordered for 200 yen if you’re also ordering food, 100 yen for kids (free for kids under 3 years old), and 300 yen when you’re ordering a Drink Bar without having anything else.

After you finish your main dish, it’s time for dessert!

All of Saizeriya’s desserts are inexpensive and tasty, but the classic Tiramisu and Italian Creme Caramel is the most popular. The Italian Gelato is also a nice and refreshing dessert. The Lemon Sorbet is the cheapest, costing only 200 yen, but the others are also inexpensive, with the most expensive Tiramisu & Italian Creme Caramel being 500 yen.

Saizeriya has a menu for kids as well.

They used to have pasta dishes specifically for kids, but they’ve since stopped selling them. They still do have popcorn shrimp and fried potatoes for kids, though! They also offer Drink Bars for a smaller price for children, which is 100 yen for kids still in elementary school or younger, and free for kids under 3 years old.

The Kids Menu’s two sides have seemingly identical pictures that actually have subtle differences, which work as a spot-the-difference puzzle. These puzzles are known to be incredibly difficult to solve, even for grown-ups, so have a try at it if you’re interested in puzzles!

Some of Saizeriya’s dishes are vegan-friendly, without any eggs or meat. These dishes include Spaghetti Peperoncino and Spaghetti Aglio e Oglio for main dishes, Garden Salad, Crispy Potatoes (drizzled with olive oil), and Well-boiled Broccoli for appetizers, and Lemon Sorbet (which uses Sicilian lemons) for dessert.

While many restaurants place various condiments (like hot sauce) on each table which customers can use, Saizeriya has a separate space for those condiments near the kitchen, so remember to go to that space if you want to put anything on your food.

Thanks for reading this article, and I hope you have a brilliant time at Saizeriya!!
